A series of nine e-learning modules have been updated to a high-quality, interactive experience for students preparing for the Fire Behaviour Analyst seminar.
The pre-coursework was a collaborative effort between the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, AFAC, the National Emergency Management Agency and other agency subject matter experts.
The updated e-learning modules aim to:
- boost the confidence, skills, and knowledge of students
- use scenario-based learning from subject matter experts to reinforce key messages
- use targeted lessons that include a range of materials for a well-rounded learning experience.
The modules give students an induction to several components before undertaking a manual fire behaviour prediction.
The nine modules include the following topics:
- Introduction to FBAn Foundation Course
- Data Interpretation
- Forest fuels
- Weather
- Aerological Diagrams
- Topography
- Mapping
- Grass Fire Behaviour and Suppression Scenario
- Forest Fire Behaviour Suppression Scenario
