2026 National Memorial Service
8 May 2026: AFAC, the Australian and New Zealand National Council for fire and emergency services, will hold a memorial service honouring the courage and sacrifice of those who have died in the line of duty on 8 May 2026.

AFAC, the Australian and New Zealand National Council for fire and emergency services, will hold a memorial service to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have died in the line of duty.
An AFAC memorial medallion will be presented to families of those who have died in the line of duty.
The service will also acknowledge names added to the memorial wall, which recognises those who have died in the line of duty since records began.
Members of Parliament and the media are invited to attend to assist in promoting the role of fire and emergency services and the commitment they make to keeping our communities safe.
The National Emergency Service Memorial is located at Rond Terrace, at the southern end of ANZAC Parade in Canberra.

Parking:
Metred parking is available in the CIT car park, with access to the site via the underpass at Parkes Way.

- This is a free event, open to AFAC members and the general public
- Please note the service is held outdoors and attendees are encouraged to dress warmly.
- Light refreshments, including tea and coffee will be available. Not all dietary requirements will be catered for.
