AFAC is Australia and New Zealand’s National Council for fire and emergency Services and represents 36-member organisations who are totalling over 288,000 firefighters and emergency services workers.

AFAC seeks to amplify the collective capability and capacity of emergency management organisations, support them to work together to achieve better outcomes for the sector, and the communities they serve.

AFAC does this through an extensive and mature collaboration network, developing national doctrine or ways of working, and delivering project or grant-based work including professional services, software applications, aircraft contract management, cross border deployment of emergency services personnel and other nationally significant activities such as the delivery the national conference and National Emergency Services Memorial ceremony.

About the position

The Product Analyst/ Specialist will play a central role in supporting AFAC’s IT team by managing products, engaging with stakeholders, and providing technical and business analysis expertise.

This position focuses on product support, finance management, administration, and industry engagement to ensure AFAC products are effectively delivered and supported across the business and member agencies.

Product support and management

  • Support product management including prioritisation, backlog management, daily stand-ups, and product planning.
  • Conduct business analysis: review processes, identify opportunities for improvement, document workflows, and translate business needs into specifications.
  • Develop a strong understanding of AFAC’s products (e.g., ARENA and ARENA HP) and provide user support and guidance.
  • Maintain accurate product documentation, FAQs, and process manuals.
  • Monitor product performance and report on improvements and user feedback.
  • Assist with NAFC contracts and eFOR support queries.

Administration and communication

  • Coordinate product-related communications across teams and stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative support, including responding to product inquiries and managing inboxes.
  • Support meetings with agendas, minutes, and documentation.

Industry engagement

  • Collaborate with AFAC members, agencies, and industry partners.
  • Represent AFAC at events, forums, and sector meetings as required.

About you

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about technology, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders.

Essential skills and experience include:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service focus.
  • Organisational ability, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, product management and Agile tools (Jira, Confluence, Miro).
  • Ability to conduct business analysis and document workflows and requirements.
  • Data management and systems experience.
  • Financial/invoice processing skills (desirable).
